Dug

My sweet Owen is starting to read. Yes, read! Last week he read the word 'dug' and when it came up at his conferences on Friday, his teacher was so excited to hear the news! She said he was so close and I actually got to hear the first word! Last night Jer was spelling words with him and he was able to read 'dog', 'bat', 'bug', 'car', 'cat', 'go', 'dad', 'up', 'fish' and even 'brush'! Talk about making your parents proud.

Today he came home with a slip of paper in his pocket that said "4,863." He told me that it was 4 thousands, eight hundreds, 6 tens and 3 units. He has been doing the 'stamp game' at school and is starting addition now, too. This year he is completely blossoming at Sunny Hollow. 

Appropriately enough, we got his school pictures today. I'm pulling the illegal move again and sharing a scan of him and his classmates. (Summer - please don't tell Josh...who works for the photo company!) 

My sweet boy is turning 5 this week and he is showing it. He is growing up to be one smart cookie.
