Walter's walking!

This was the comment that got me out of bed in a hurry this morning. Although I was pretty certain he really wasn't, I wasn't going to miss out if he was. When I came down, Jer explained that he was walking with some help, but really getting the hang of it. I think we have a good two months before any solo walking happens. Walter is just starting to let go of things and balance while standing for a few seconds - and that's generous! That is just fine with me. I've decided a baby doesn't become a toddler until they walk, so I'll keep my baby for as long as I can.

Walter got his first haircut on Wednesday in his bath. His bangs were getting a little out of control, so I gave them a trim. I tried to take a bit off the back, but was reserved as he is such a squirm worm. He's awfully handsome and his signature wrinkled nose smile gets me every time. (of course I don't have a photo of that today...)

I have to share this final attempt at a photo with my parents before they left Wednesday. This was the best one we got.

We had a fun day with the Hipps family yesterday for the 4th. There were plenty of games to be played, with bocce ball, ladder toss, and even a water balloon toss. The food was yummy and there was too much of it, of course. The best part was all of the family together. There were people from Singapore, Seattle, Florida, Tennessee, and good old Minnesota! Auntie Rachel brought the fixings for Owen to make his now famous dessert pizza for everyone. Owen was very proud to serve any takers. The afternoon ended with a mini firework display and some sparkler name spelling. Thanks for the great party, Donna & Bruce!
